Following this theme, we created some burger-inspired macarons for National Burger Day. National Burger Day was celebrated throughout the UK, on the 27th of August 2014, with great offers on burgers and plenty of Burger Facts being passed around.
While we can, by no means, claim to be the first ones to create "Macaron Burgers," as evidenced by a google image search of "Burger Macaron" along with these advertisements by McDonald's France, we do think ours look pretty darn cute!
And, beyond the cute façade lies a very well thought out recipe combining rich dark chocolate ganache (as the meat patty), subtle vanilla buttercream (as the mayonaise) and fresh apple slivers (as the beetroot coleslaw topping).
If you have your own idea for some bespoke styled macarons, please get in touch with us. We always enjoy a challenge and find much pleasure in creating macarons that are both tasty and aesthetically pleasing.
During the time we have spent baking and selling macarons, we have noticed that it is a common theme for children (and some adults) to describe a macaron as a biscuit that looks like a tiny hamburger. While macarons are actually cakes and not biscuits, (due to the various qualities of the confection, see: Jaffa Cake Case), we do agree that they resemble our favourite meaty comfort food, the hamburger!
